SPRAYING HAS STARTED!
7/31/2014
Joint pin and bumper are installed and the wrap groove is cut. The wrap pictured is a smooth calf skin wrap.
7/10/2014
Joint collar and butt cap installed.
7/5/2014
Butt sleeve is being installed today.
6/25/2014
The A-joint is assembled. Note the glue that was forced out of the cue between the maple and ebony splices. The splices looked clean, but there were definite voids. The assembly doubled as a repair job and eliminated a potential buzz in the cue.
6/20/2014
A pass has been taken on both the forearm and handle. The forearm will be joined to the handle next.
3/23/2014
The handle has been tapered.
2/24/2014
Note the chip out at the tip of the point. That, and the forearm originally being out of round and warped, will make it difficult to keep the points close to even while maintaining the size you want. The handle is selected. It is straight grained, dense, and has a ring count of 17 grains per inch. It will be a perfect choice for this cue.
The sleeve is bored to near final size and a pass has been taken on the forearm to true it up.
2/1/2014
This 4 oz lead slug was jammed into the butt of the cue. The eccentricity of the hole, in addition to the gaping fit, is very evident from the pic. Getting it removed was not very challenging. The sleeve is parted off and the forearm is cut to length.
